About this event
History and Future of Non-Ductile Concrete
Join us for an in-depth discussion on Non-Ductile Concrete (NDC) buildings, exploring their historical development, the recognition of their seismic vulnerabilities, and ongoing efforts to address these challenges. The event will cover the rise of concrete design following the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, lessons learned from the 1971 San Fernando earthquake, and the role of engineering and policy in mitigating NDC risks. Key Bay Area NDC programs, including San Francisco’s Concrete Building Safety Program, will be discussed, followed by an open forum for discussion.
A panel of experts in engineering, preservation, and policy will provide valuable insights. Stay tuned for speaker announcements.
