Joining SEAONC

Membership in SEAONC is encouraged for anyone interested in (or working adjacent to) the structural engineering  profession seeking an opportunity to serve the public and shape the future of the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.

The success of SEAONC in its efforts to serve the public and the profession stems from the commitment of volunteer members working on committees, both technical and non-technical, that form the basis of SEAONC operations. The majority of Association members are licensed civil, structural, or geotechnical engineers regularly engaged in the practice of structural engineering. The Association also draws membership from related fields involved in design and construction, including academe (professors and students), contractors, architects, and representatives from industry and government. All SEAONC members are automatically SEAOC (State) and NCSEA (national) members.

Testimonials

Natalie Tse, SE

SEAONC Member Since 2004

Getting involved in SEAONC gave me an opportunity to meet, get to know, and collaborate with other professionals within the local community. Making connections with people outside your own office has an incredible number of both personal and professional benefits, including mentorship, career growth, community connectivity, and leadership opportunities. All of the technical presentations help keep us up to date with new technologies, research, code changes. They give us an edge of creativity and keep us curious and inspired in our day to day work.

I honestly can't imagine how different my life would be had I not been introduced to SEAONC by a colleague when I first moved here in 2004. I am grateful to that friend and hope others will continue to pay it forward. It's our responsibility to engage the next generation, make them feel welcome, give them opportunities to grow and learn, and ensure they have the resources to thrive.

Kevin Morton, SE

SEAONC Member Since 2000

My involvement in the SEAONC has been one of the most crucial aspects to my success in the field of structural engineering. I've benefited from professional development activities provided by the organization, commiserated with peers about challenges we face on a daily, if not hourly, basis, and enjoyed simply getting together to have a great time with like-minded, hardworking, highly intelligent individuals.

I can’t honestly imagine my life as a practicing structural engineer without having SEAONC as a solid foundation to benefit from and lean on. Having the honor to serve as a director on the board and help guide our beautiful bunch of albeit sometimes quirky, opinioned folks towards the common goal steeped in our mission statement of improving our invaluable role in society has been nothing but a pleasure.
